About the National Doula Certification Board
The National Doula Certification Board is committed to advancing the doula profession by providing an independent, evidence-based certification process that promotes excellence and professionalism in doula care.

Our Mission
The National Doula Certification Board’s mission is to set the standard for the professional practice, training, and learning outcomes for the doula profession. This is achieved by creating a standard of professionalism, preparedness, knowledge, and skill for doulas and establishing a national certification process that can be used with confidence by any interested party as a measure of an individual’s qualification to practice as a doula.
More about the NDCB
The Certified Professional Doula Credential
The Certified Professional Doula credential is issued by the NDCB, qualifying individuals to work as professional doulas. Having sought accreditation by the ANSI National Accreditation Board (ANAB), the NDCB achieved official accreditation in November 2024. This marks the first organization to obtain such accreditation for the doula industry. By setting the standards for qualification to practice as a professional doula, the NDCB aims to standardize requirements for individuals who apply for certification and to maintain the levels of performance of all practicing professional doulas throughout their careers.
