Certification and Recertification
Obtain your professional doula certification or stay on track with recertification and continued learning opportunities.
Become a Certified Professional Doula
If you’re interested in becoming a recognized professional doula, obtaining your doula certification is a key step toward a successful career. Professional doulas play a crucial role in providing emotional, physical, and informational support during childbirth and throughout life. To ensure ethical standards, guidelines must be established for their services. With a certification and recertification process in place, the NDCB aims to set the standard for the qualifications of certified professional doulas as well as the continued quality of service throughout their careers through recertification and continued learning.
The NDCB’s certification process aims to establish the standards of knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary for an individual to qualify as a professional doula.
In order to demonstrate your competence as a professional doula, the NDCB's CPD exam is required. You must complete one of the two pathways listed below in order to apply for the CPD Exam. Training and clinical expereince must be completed prior to the application. Once you have obtained your CPD doula certification, you can practice for three years with the opportunity for recertification.
